Two first offender defendants Thomas Searles Thompson and Arthur Hugh Gordon were fined at Coffs Court of Petty Sessions for negligent driving after separate Highway incidents. Thompson received 3 pounds plus 10 shillings costs for a night collision on the Pacific Highway. Gordon was fined 4 pounds plus 19 shillings costs for negligent driving and 20 shillings plus 18 shillings costs for driving without a licence, the magistrate noting the unlicensed status aggravated the offence.
At the monthly Chamber of Commerce meeting Mr A S Donnelly asked if any word had been received from the departments about the port development. Mr Pollard replied that nothing had been received. The meeting decided to proceed with further steps.
The Chamber of Commerce discussed the danger of the current primary school bus stop. Mr M Cunningham urged moving the stop further down the hill toward town, and the board referred the request to authorities for action.
