A sub-committee of North-West Riding Councillors and Dr Gleeson was formed to liaise with Mr Luxtin and report after the visit.
The wedding of John Dalton's son and Phyllis Elizabeth Gibb took place at St Michael s Church Thirroul with Rev Father Mullin officiating. The bride wore a white satin gown with silk marquisette yoke and train, veil lent by her sister, and carried stocks with pink hyacinths while her sister Thelma attended in white satin. The couple left the church amid horseshoe decorations from relatives and a reception followed.
