It reports fuel ration concerns raised by truckers and primary producers, and lists 1941 42 main road maintenance allocations for Tungamah Shire including Benalla Tocumwal and Cobram Yarrawonga roads from CRB and Federal funds.
John Douglas Caird of Katamatite faces charges of driving in a dangerous manner and failing to stop after an accident near Cobram on 16 July. Witnesses describe a car with lights not dipped, a collision involving Caird’s truck and a second vehicle, and Caird’s subsequent statements to police.
Mr N Cook of the RAAF at Showgrounds camp was home on leave. Miss Jeanette McKenzie sought admission to the WAAAF. L/Cpl R Wyatt returned to camp after leave. Mr M Steward on Garri son duty at Queenscliff was home on leave. A pantry and kitchen tea honored Mr and Mrs Itert Jordan on 22 August. The Fire Brigade member Mr Jordan received an electric reading lamp. Retired Fire Brigade captain Mr John J O Connor invited to rejoin for war duration. Rev Vernon Williams will leave Numurksh to lead the Corryong parish. William’s parish extends from Tallygaroopna to Cobcum. promotion will see Mrs Beames move to the city for dry leave. Constable Beames, longtime officer, receives recognition. Mrs Deames is a member of the Ch iesniсiation and local sub-branch TSL committees. We extend congratulations to Constable Beemes on his promotion.
David George McMillan and Beames testified about missing and misused tools in a Kennedy camp at Yarroweyah. The accused John Justin Kennedy denied ownership, while witnesses described branding, marks, and transfers of crowbars shovels and a Stillson spanner. Evidence included inventory checks between 1940 and 1941 and statements about purchase, possession, and custody of SR WS branded items.
