Cobram Shire discusses road openings, weighbridge matters, and rate adjustments. Reports cover Cobram Band, Yarrawonga show, Cobram Show public holiday, and local sales auctions. Notices include elections, livestock yard yarding, and council engineering plans for roads and drainage.
The Dookie Agricultural College Principal reports rainfall for the month at 1535 points. Dry weather left oats backward until mid month, but fallowed wheat held up well. Rainfall fallowing has advanced, total fallowed area reaches 460 acres, and crops show excellent growth with expectations of a good return.
Katamatite will host the district annual Show and Sports next Thursday the 14th with high expectations. Entries close the following Saturday the 16th and a fair number are already in. Secretaries C Sinclair and E Kilgour are working hard to ensure success. A Cobram cricket club meeting tomorrow night seeks attendance to decide joining an association and to appoint delegates for a Strathmerton meeting on Monday night. The new association is expected to include Cobram Katamatite Numutkah Strathmerton and Wangaratta clubs with Tocumwal possibly joining.
