Local and general news items from Yarroweyah include an 8 pm meeting of landholders to discuss extending the government irrigation scheme to the district. An old time dance is planned for October 10 to raise funds for hall repairs and patriotic needs. A donor in Tocumwal contributes 1000 guineas to relief funds for bombing victims. The Katamatite section of the Murray scheme nears completion with water for dry season irrigation. Henry Abikhair of Rushworth is found guilty of sheep stealing and other offences in Shepparton Court, with a 12 month sentence plus two weeks for receiving a stolen bicycle.
Mrs T Wright, longtime Katamatite resident and oldest local identity, died at 31. She leaves eight children including Issac, Albert, Oliver, Ernest, Alice, Mary, Elsie, and George. At Barooga on Saturday September 28 crowds enjoyed a gloomy afternoon for the annual school picnic. Many events were run with Carmel Moore and Norrie Maraldo among early winners in tiny tots and 6 year old girls divisions.
