The Trinity College of Music annual exam was conducted by Henry Gibson at Mrs Quinn's residence on Mosday October 80th. Ten violinists and ten pianists passed with honors and merit amid the Cobram district rainfall concerns and local news updates.
The AMAH Shire Council held its monthly meeting with Councillors present including Dr J W Oliver president and F Kelly R T Ryan A Mulquiney and others. Items discussed included a flooding complaint from Mr Harker about Courteil flooded property at Yabba South, and an engineer’s delayed report. Requests to increase daily yard track pay from £2 12 to £2 due to fuel costs were noted as received. Reports on gravel and sand extraction from Elizabeth Heal’s property Youarang and contractor permits were addressed. Plans to cooperate on a Baby Health Centre and a lease for railway land at Cobram were noted, with decisions to be forwarded to the Shire Solicitor.
Cobram Group B.5.L. Comforts Fund held its sixth meeting under Mr M. D. O'Dwyer. New committee members were added. Plans included a Euchre party and a dance on 24 November, with a sub committee to be formed and talks on a talkie entertainment.
At Tungamah Council meeting a St James sub branch letter protested the appointment of a power grader driver not a Returned Soldier. Three applications came from Returned men but none had practical experience. A Mills was chosen as the only North-West riding applicant and was deemed competent.
A forwarded application to erect a timber dwelling is under consideration. P B Pullar Cobram is involved. The project will involve filing up with coarse gravel or stone. It is noted that 280 is to be spent on this road.
District growers at Cobram Saturday supported Bendigo Conference call for a payable price of 3 1 6 per bushel with a plan to withhold wheat from market if needed. They pressed government action and noted the cost of production, urging unity, political pressure, and potential noncropping or protest measures to secure fair prices.
