Des Burke, Cobram-born jockey in Colombo, reports meeting Cobram soldiers including Coucher Brown J Chant and Bourke. he rode Show the Way to victory in the day’s main event.

A large gathering assembled at Clifton Park the residence of Mrs Tweddle Yarrowweyah on Saturday evening to celebrate the coming of age of her daughter Miss Rits Tweddle. Miss Laura Bates of Melbourne sang Scottish songs, Mrs Coldwell accompanied, and Mr E Coldwell presided as chairman. A supper followed and a toast to the King and to Miss Tweddle was proposed. Mrs Tweddle presented her daughter with the autographed key of the door.
The ALF event featured toasts by R Mudge and M Harris, with D Tweddle and T McNaught honored for a recent engagement. Mr and Mrs Fleming welcomed to the district as guests. Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem closed the evening as Miss Tweddle received numerous gifts.
The council accepted tenders for road works across the shire at its meeting on Monday. Contracts include 39/40 forming North and South Road between McCluskey and McCluskey Cobram Left to Engineer to have done by day labor. 40/40 flood crossings on Numurkah Tun gamah Boundary Road particulars to be submitted 10 Board second lowest recommended as lowest tender was considered 00 litue. 41/40 reforming graveling and flood crossings Southern Riding A C McQualter 356/7. 42/40 reforming graveling and flood crossings Central Riding P Mills 4/17. 43/40 reforming travelling geodetic East and West Road Katamatite Youanmite Bollard s Left to Engineer.
