On a recent visit led by Chairman W McCormack and secretary Dale, the Country Roads Board considered requests from upgemell and Katamatite councils. They approved rebuilding a crossing near Katamatite and discussed declaring a developmental road near Cobram station. McCormack cited lack of funds for some projects, while permitting use of local gravel and approving £300 for gravel carting on the Yarrawonga Road.
The Cobram R C Ball committee held a high standard event drawing about 130 couples from nearby towns. Roy Chandler's Melbourne Band entertained with encores while supper was served at St Joseph's Hall and dancing continued into the early hours.
The Cobram district mourns Thomas Butler aged 36 who died at Nurse Hickey's private hospital after a short illness. He was the only son of James Butler of Noring, admired for his genial nature and farming ties at Mucksted, with strong links to Mudkateb Football and Race Clubs. The funeral from B.C. Church Cobram went to Katematie cemetery with a large turnout as Rev Father Ellis administered the burial service.
