Clarence Jose Hoare sought reinstatement after leaving in March 1942 and enlisting in April, with the defense noting extenuating circumstances. The court considered breaches under the regulations and imposed a penalty of £10 with costs.
A meeting at the Media dell on March 18 formed a new branch of the Irrigators Protection League in Cobram. Officers were elected including President Mr. H. Roe and Treasurer Mr. W. Buzzes. A petition signers list was prepared and available at M Harris' shop.
A grass fire started by a petrol truck near Mulwala road threatened the Yarrawee Estate at Baringa. The blaze burned about 400 acres of pasture and fencing before firefighters contained it. The truck and suitcases with clothing and tools were burned, while the driver steered the vehicle toward a trench to prevent broader damage. Additional outbreaks were reported along the road but were quickly controlled by local farmers and the Bush Fire Brigade.
