First Constable Michael Naylon aged 40 of the Nice force in the Goul tu Valley died Saturday night after an appendicitis operation and a week in hospital. He served three years at Mooroopna and was greatly respected by both the public and his colleagues. Interment was held Sunday at Wangaratta, Naylon’s birthplace, with floral tributes from Cobram, Shepparton, and Mooroopna Police Stations.
Edward Killeen of Finley wins one of eight five year free courses at Canberra University College. Dentists Yarrawonga’s J Brook named Education Department officer in Tasmania. Farewell dinner for Mr and Mrs Dixon precedes departure. Mrs Dixon active with sociog and football clubs. Condolences to Mr and Mrs Gleeson Strathmerton on the death of their two year old James. Mr and Mrs Hendy Mulwala celebrate golden wedding with friends’ messages. Senior Constable Moylan transferred to Albert Park, with many friends’ good wishes. A Cobram Motor Cycle Club XI played Cobram East in a friendly at Cobram East on Saturday. MCC were all out for 55 with N Brown top scoring, while Cobram East finished with 55 and claimed victory. Healy bowled brilliantly for Cobram East, taking 7/11 as multiple players contributed with the ball.
Cobram bowlers lost a second of five matches to Numurkah Yoo on Wednesday evening last week with scores not fully provided. The match adds to Cobram’s current setback streak in the season.
