Cobram Hospital Receives 320 Pounds From Radio Appeal

The SSR sutuo appeal raised 320 for Cobram Hospital, 50 more than the previous drive. President Mr JW Gemmell urged funding to meet rising costs and essential equipment needs. Three Cobram women Dorothy Janetz Wilma Ackland Eva Shier handled donor calls from 8:45 am to 6:30 pm. A donors list will follow in a future Courier issue.

Help the Scouts Cobram Hall Fund Appeal

Cobram residents are urged to back the 1st Cobram Scout and Cub Group hall project. A salvage collection and donations at O Weatherill's Cobram blacksmith shop aim to raise funds for bricks and roof, with a July 6 collection day and Saturday rush to speed completion for local scouts and future generations.

Arrangement For Wheat Pool Payment Approved

The Minister for Commerce and Agriculture Mr McEwen announced approval of a new arrangement for wheat pool payments. The Australian Wheat Board may directly arrange payments to growers from funds in different pools with ministerial concurrence. Cabinet approval is still required for overdraft guarantees as before.
