Mr W Burton of Tasmania is holidaying in Cobram as a guest of Mr and Mrs Guthrie. Mrs Ware of Yea visits her law. Mr and Mrs W Shadforth, admitted to Mooroopna Hospital last Monday after a car accident, are reported to be recovering though not yet out of danger. Mr Eric Pinson of the RAAF is holidaying with his parents at Cob.
In Tocumwal on opening day, Mr and Mrs D Spence of Cobram win the mixed foursomes over 9 holes with 47 8 31 6. Cobram’s G Little nets 68 in 18 hole men’s handicap but doesn’t win. multiple players post scores as club championships begin with A and B grade handicaps and a singles handicap event plus an eclectic handicap set for late June and early July.
Cobram journeyed to Dookie College and won four matches to one in the pennant competition. The Cobram ladies conducted nine holes handicap events with Mrs Gedye and Mrs Roe posting best net scores on different days while various members posted scores in the 50s and 60s. A charity appeal to support Food for Britain urges donations by July 1 with publication of a full donor list in the Courier on July 4 and closes entries for four ball and singles knockout events on Sunday.
