Weed that causes pneumonia in sheep rings alarm in NSW
The weed known botanically as verbecina enceloides is spreading in Narrubrie district NSW and blamed for pneumonia in sheep. Officials urge urgent action before it becomes uncontrollable as the plant can cause pleurisy and lung adhesion in livestock. The weed appears in several areas but is not yet on the official noxious weed list.
