The Cobram Fire Brigade started a Badminton club and held the first games at the Fire Station on Wednesday night with large attendance and good matches. Interested players may join at the Fire Brigade Station each Wednesday or contact Mr W Bourke. The brigade notes street maintenance to keep fire plugs clear of grass. A hose basket from the Cobram Fire Engine on Scott's Road was lost and should be returned to the Fire Station.
The Victory Day Celebrations begin at 1.15 pm with a plain and fancy dress procession from Mechanics Hall through Cobram streets, followed by a Sports Carnival at the Show grounds. The RSL organizers promise first class entertainment and good fun with details in town adverts and posters.
The bride wore a white crepe frock and carried pink roses as Miss Lilian Stokes attended her. Best man was Mr Frank Hanrahan, brother of the bride. The reception occurred at the Palace with relatives assisting. The couple will reside in West Preston after a honeymoon in Adelaide.
The Cobram post office will close all day Monday for Victory Day with no dispatch or receipt of mails. Afternoon roads mail will be delayed until Tuesday morning. A Victory Day event and charity ball follows at Mechanics Hall with donations welcome and dancing from 8 pm to 3 am. Turkey buyers seek birds at 1/6 per lb nett with district agents Mc Namara & Co.
Lena Mar Hargreaves, daughter of C. Hargreaves of Yarrawonga, wed James Angus Gray, son of A. Gray of Cobram East, at Congregational Church Yarrawonga on May 25. Rev R Albiston officiated. bridesmaids were Mary and Valerie Gray. reception at Royal Mail Hotel Yarrawonga.

Mr and Mrs Daphne welcome a son. twin Stewart Woolford resumes duties after a charge. Mr Ron of Melbourne starts at the Cobram State Rivers and Water Supply Commission office. Congratulations to Steen May Martin Bwyer on the birth of a daughter. Mr R C Sandow of Melbourne visiting Cobram to start as Shell Depot manager.
