In sad memory of Vera Kennedy who departed May 25 1942. Deep in our hearts a memory is kept of one dear to us. In loving remembrance from her mother and father sisters and brothers V Nye and A Nye. Also remembered by her husband Bob and daughter Adelmina.
Mr and Mrs A Dixon won the Cobram Barooga foursomes with a nett 794. Card scores list Dixon pair leading 203 and 80s for other teams. next event a stroke handicap and a four ball vs bogey. A club working bee set for Sunday at 8:30 to finish clubhouse alterations. Miss Lexie Grant wins third straight associates handicap, with scores led by Grant 71 and followed by Spence 76 and Harden 78.
A committee meeting of the Cob ram Football Club will be held at Mechanics Hall on Tuesday June 12 at 8 pm.
One of the most interesting road races of the season over five laps of Yarra Wonga Road Katamatite Road and return. Paul Munyard led the field with a rapidly improving first year ride while head winds and rough road challenged all. Jack Buncle struggled after a football match but stayed with the group during the race.
Anyone wishing to view cycle club racing this weekend will see the start in Punt Road at the Central Hotel at 11 a.m. The route follows Yarrawonga Road and Station Street for three circuits to Katamatite Road and returns via Murray Valley Highway with the finish along Pune Road.
Paul Munyard outpaced Arthur Dewan in a tense finish as back markers Bob Shadforth Malcolm Boag and Jim Watson chased. Shadforth took second with fastest time while Gladys Downie dominates Cobram ladies cycling amid upcoming regional races and local junior and senior handicaps schedule.
