Carmel Myers stars in The Gilded Dream at Wonderscape Pictures with Myer’s rep at Cobram hotel soon. Community meetings discuss gardens, a jumble fair, and a euchre party for local clubs. Mrs Louisa Selleck widow of Richard Gray Selleck of Numurkah died on 18th inst leaving a widow, one son and three daughters. At the Kata matite Progress Association meeting a lecture on Educational Years by Mr W Doherty drew a large audience and a proposal to reopen the local post office for Saturday half-holiday mail delivery was approved. The Numurkah Golf Club held a nearby tournament with participants from Melbourne and regional towns, with winners listed in various events, and the annual ball drew a large attendance with ample suppers and a projected profit over 440.
The Cobram Croquet and Bowling Clubs Ball drew about 53 couples with stylish gowns and lively dancing to 2 am. Mentors W Johns Hi Talon A M Misses Brive and F Johns organized decorations turning the hall into a fairyland with streamers, flowers, and lighting pleasing guests. The supper tables by Mesdames Grant Little Gedye and others complemented the event, and secretary W E Cassidy praised the volunteers and enthusiasm behind the ball.
A Cobram Agricultural Society meeting in Mechanics Hall elected A R Wadeson as chair after J O'Dwyer resigned as President and G Ritchie agreed to stay as vice president. A Prize List Committee was formed, grazing lease terms set, and schoolboys allowed ground access with conditions. Extra motions included judge appointments, Show Day train, gate fees, and a draught horse challenge fund boost.
Cobram Show prize committee begins tasks for the event with plans for novelty races, eliminations, and committee recommendations. The effort focuses on horse and driving events, with new layouts and possible enhancements for the upcoming show.
