Joseph Eaton, a Cobram pioneer and community figure, died after a short illness at 73. Born in Liverpool, he moved to Victoria as a child, ran a hairdressing and news agency, later a commission business, helped establish Cobram's first Sunday School, served as Methodist Church secretary, registrar for vital records, and was a Freemason and Odd Fellow. survived by wife and three sons and two daughters.
A sudden death last Tuesday ended the life of Mr John Jones a long time Yarroweyah resident who helped push rail links from Shepparton to Cobram. He settled in 1878 and later moved to Berrigan, living 78 years. The Strathmerton district mourns Richard C Farrall at 72, with a lengthy Cobram cemetery funeral from Mynee.
