Alteration That Land Is Wasted At Shepparton Society
A letter from Shepparton Agricultural Society council member R L Baglin urged more town service with valuable land inside bounds or its removal. He proposed stores from gate to sheep pens with frontages to display on show days and flexible partitions to aid public use and revenue. The Albury Show Society meanwhile approved cattle entries must be Herd Book registered by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW. Albury builds 31 brick homes for NSW Housing Commission near North Albury.

Tatura Racecourse Improvement Plan Debated
Heaney Shire Council received a reply from the department of public works on subsidies for improvements to the Tatura race course and recreation reserve. The department said subsidies for race courses are not standard but may be possible on a £2-£1 basis for approved recreation reserves. The council was asked how the reserve is used for public recreation besides racing. With housing material conservation priorities, building subsidies were declined. The shire secretary Mr W T A Martin said the reserve committee could raise £100 toward costs, and the council decided to reapply.
