Appeal urged to remove agisted horses in drought area

An Agriculture Ministry appeal urged early removal of horses still on agistment in Southern Victoria. Minister Mr Martin praised landowners who donated horses from drought regions and noted only 1500 of 4509 agisted horses had been returned due to feed shortages and worsening conditions. Farmers expect grass in the north to aid recovery, reducing the need for prolonged agistment. In Parliament, MHR Alex Wilson asked about tractor price subsidies aligning with price stabilisation. Minister Chiffly said subsidies target consumer goods, not capital goods.
