She had moved from Melbourne a fortnight earlier seeking rest and enjoyed time with her son and daughter in law. Mrs Steer known for activity and local business dealings with husband Fred Steer and daughter Miss Lottie Steer. she served as a judge at the Berrigan show and was highly regarded in Cobram and Berri van. Burial was at Cobram Cemetery with Rev Lewin officiating.

Progress Report From Cobram Hospital This Week

Mrs Les Keamy of Barooga is in her fourth week as a patient at Cobram Hospital and is making satisfactory progress with discharge expected soon. The death of Mr T. A. Flynn at 15 Redan Street St. Kilda on February 16 is noted. he was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs James Flynn of Katamatite district. He is survived by his wife two brothers and four sisters. Gerald Quinane of Barooga is in Melbourne for medical examination at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and hopes a two to three week Melbourne stay. Col Lyle, Barooga Hotel licensee, returns from Bacchus Marsh at the weekend after a fortnight’s absence. Mrs Gordon Allen is presently a patient at Cobram District Hospital.

Mr. J McEwen MHR Minister for Commerce and Agriculture pressed the Postmaster General for a Murray Valley Soldier Settlement Area telephone exchange. He cited wasted time and petrol due to lack of phones and said better communications would aid settlers dealing with water bailiffs veterinary surgeons and other business. The Postmaster General promised to review the situation.

Umpire Called Incorrect On Run Out Rule

The note cites Law 41 stating a ball played to the opposite wicket does not make either batsman out unless the ball was touched by a fielder before the wicket is put down. The umpire made an error in this instance.
