In Tocumwal on Saturday afternoon Mr Fred Beasley was electrocuted while attending electrical connections on a ramp. An arm bridged two wires while he stood about eight feet high. Airmen McLeod and Hogan were present though did not witness the moment. Hogan released the wire and Beasley received CPR without success. Beasley, a long-time respected resident, left a wife and family. The body was laid to rest at Tocumwal Cemetery on Sunday with a large crowd. The council noted the tragedy and praised Beasley as an excellent citizen and employer. A separate theft of tool kit from Beasley’s truck preceded the event, the stole tools being a contributing cause in the day’s misfortune.
The Cobram Branch of the Victorian Wheat and Wool Growers Association met with 14 members present. The retiring president Mr J W Gemmell reported on the year and urged discussion of the proposed new stabilization plan at the March Association Conference. Election results named Mr J J Cullen as president with vice presidents Messrs J W Gemmell H Roe and J J Parnell, and a committee including H Whitty F Cumming and others. Secretary M D O'Dwyer received a £5 honorarium. Resolutions called for home-price sales of wheat for stock and poultry, support for a stronger stabilization policy, and refinements to grain elevator access. Delegates J W Gemmell J J Parnell T Stillard S P Johnson M D O'Dwyer J Cullen attended. A district council report will run in the Courier.
The court desires the newspaper to record all social events in the district and welcomes paragraphs from subscribers and residents. Items must be signed by the contributor, and only then will names be published.

Mr and Mrs Woolford note their son has become a commissioned officer. Miss Joan Shinnick returns to Cobram from Melbourne holiday. Cobram Croquet Club tea honors Mrs J Gilsenan for leadership and finances. Mrs M A McIntyre of Cobram on holidays in Melbourne. Me McCallum of State Rivers and Water Supply Commission holidaying.

Cobram Cycle Club is being reformed after a meeting Monday night. Despite poor attendance, a core group pressed ahead and 18 members have signed up. Mr A Ratcliffe is secretary and an application was made to the Hall committee for a fundraising event night.
