The Courier will skip publication on Thursday January 2 during the Christmas and New Year holidays. This last 1935 issue opens a calendar and thanks readers and advertisers for their support. Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
The Post Office will be closed on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day and New Year’s Day the office opens from 4 0 a.m. and offers half hour mail delivery over the counter in the afternoon. Business Premises will be closed on Christmas Boxing and New Year’s Days and Banks on those days and also Jud January.
A meeting of the Berriquin Advisory Committees was held at Finley on 17 December. The Berriquin Scheme shows satisfactory progress with six contracts in progress, 1 056 008 cubic yards excavated, seven bridges completed, five opened to traffic, and dragline excavators ready soon. Total expenditure to 30 November stood at £188,184. The Cobram Agricultural Society carnival is set for 1 January with a prize fund of £100 and a grand procession.
Deputy Coroner Mr A R Wadeson held an inquiry into the death of Leslie John Walke who drowned in the Murray River at Cobram East on Sunday December 5.
