Tragedy on Murray River Near Cobram East
Leslie John Walke a 41 year old camper on the Cobram East riverbank drowned in the Murray River while aiding a party crossing from Yabba. The boat overturned as water flooded it. Walke disappeared after reentering the stream to recover the craft. his body was recovered Tuesday morning near the Cemetery with Constable Egerton leading the recovery effort.
