New British Motor Engine for Cycles
A tiny half horsepower engine named the Cyclemaster offers speeds over 20 mph and fuel efficiency of 300 miles per gallon. It fits in the wheel hub, adds 20 pounds, and can be installed in about 20 minutes on a standard bicycle. The two stroke motor drives the wheel via a chain to a clutch, unlike common friction-based systems.

Disease hits pig industry in North East
Several farms in the North East region including Chiltern Harrietville Baddagitnie Dookie and Yarrawonga were quarantined as an unidentified pig disease spread. Infections possibly traced to New South Wales and aggravated by seasonal conditions. An arsenical drug once used to treat dysentery became scarce. Sulpha drugs showed benefit when started early.
