A fire at Leniston railway siding damaged the sleeper platform. Fire was noticed by motor train staff and quelled with water from a siding tank and a nearby channel. Sergeant Dwyer of Finley reported to the scene and helped extinguish the blaze. The cause remains unknown.
In Rushworth Court last Tuesday no answer was found for H G Secomb the former solicitor. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of fraudulent conversion of funds including an amount over £600. Aird Crown solicitor said Secomb had obtained two adjournments and appeared to be flouting the court. Military headquarters warn the public to avoid approaching military works and positions and to keep away from troops posts, stressing danger and the risk of armed sentries.
