Mr Herbert Joseph Rowe born 1884 at Albert Park died recently. He taught in the Education Department for 26 years before taking over the Yarrawonga Chronicle from his father in law Ewins. As editor he strived to be fair and was a gifted musician.

Doctors Split On Thomas O Day Work Ability
Four physicians gave conflicting opinions at the Albury Compensation Court regarding whether Thomas O Day a shearing contractor can work beyond light duties after an incident on January 17 1942 while employed by Studley C Burston in Mulwala. Dr van Nooten Yarrawonga and Dr E A C Ferran Albury judged him fit for light or full duties while Dr Ferran found no injury from the alleged blow.

Pilot Eric Dow Killed in Training Flight Crash
Pilot Eric Francis Dow aged 19 from Kew died instantly during a training flight near Pine Lodge property owned by Frank Roe. Dow, formerly a Shepparton footballer, was honored by the RAAF at his funeral at Shepparton cemetery. An inquest found death by misadventure after the crash occurred as the aircraft circled Roe’s house and plunged into a nearby paddock.
