The euchre event at the Free Library drew a good crowd with four present. Prizes were awarded by F W Weickhardt and Miss Hattam, then a playoff after a tie between Miss Sheehan and W Webb, won by Webb for first prize and Sheehan for second. The president H C L Lazarus thanked donors.
The late Mr J Connally a long time Clunes resident and farmer for 60 years died after a stroke on Monday. He leaves a widow and six sons and one daughter. The funeral was held Wednesday in the Rowan Catholic portion of Clunes cemetery with a large list of mourners and funeral attendants.
A town hall gathering in Clones reviewed proposals to establish new industries including a whitework factory and pig raising. Reports covered land, capital needs, and labor supply with officials considering building rental and land allotments for veterans. a tanning project remained on hold.
Mr and Mrs P Campbell of North Clunes are officially advised their son Pte W C Campbell was reported missing on May 3. Overseas authorities are making every effort to trace him. Also reported wounded are Pte A E Harris of Sutherland Street Clunes, in the machine gun section, and Pte A Breen who enlisted at Clunes and is well known locally.

Next Clunesdale sale scheduled for Wednesday 11th July.
