Citizens meet in Shire Hall to discuss forming the Cloncurry Municipal Band for 1939 and to seek funding for new instruments. Obsolete gear makes it hard for players to perform, prompting appeals for support.
Minutes show RS.S.ILA and A. L. P. reps present. A motion to approach the Council for a Treasury loan to buy new instruments for the Cloncurry Municipal Band was passed. Debated item also calls for letters to public and sporting bodies for support and appoints delegates F Uhle and J Galter to present to the Council. The session closed after thanks to the chair. The Shire Memorial Hall, mooted in 1036 and subsidised to a 50 50 basis, finally began construction after government grants of 13 000 and 3 500 subsidies. A. Welling won the £10 446 tender, foundation work started March 22 1038, with completion on April 27 1930. The total cost reaches 7 200 pounds funded by the Council and repaid over 21 years at 508 pounds annually across the shire.
