Cloncurry Shire Council Minutes Report Unfinished Electric and Public Works
The Cloncurry Shire Council met in the Chambers on Tuesday 20th to discuss postwar works. Topics included premises rent for Post Office Mount Isa area, electrician Mr Schwabe's room at the School of Arts, office use for Health Inspector Smith and Overseer Waduck, and potential electrical equipment work. The council debated engine capacity for street lighting, considered purchasing a Southern Cross Engine, and arranged contacts with Axon and the Fees Treasury. Overseer Walduck reported a faulty grader and cemetery maintenance issues, plus wage adjustments. The Mt Isa Hotel drainage and hall hire for Labor Day events were reviewed, with tariff standardization and maintenance funding discussed. A vaudeville fundraiser was approved for use of the hall with costs covered, and a successful children’s concert aided by local volunteers concluded the session.
