Mount Isa court clears two manpower cases and social notes
At Mount Isa, Nelso Eric Sue Lee pleads not guilty on a manpower breach charge and is fined £25 plus costs after court argument. A separate case against Sister Beatrice Schluter is withdrawn. A laborer, Terence Kelly, pleads guilty and is remanded for sentencing. A local manpower appeal allows Albert James Brooks to seek farm work in Mackay. A social afternoon at the Soldiers' Club benefits the Women's Auxiliary, with bridge and wogs prizes. Two Mount Isa aviators, P/O Chris Nicholls and P/O Quentin Richardson, return to Australia and are greeted by family as their plane tours the town.
