Annual Conference of the Northern Country Party in Townsville
Delegates gathered for the Northern Country Party annual conference opened by Rt Hon A W Padden on June 18 with Mr W M Frine presiding. Resignations of Mr McDonald sparked a fund drive for a memento, while policy items covered taxation, mining, education, and urgent rural services. The meeting noted relief measures after a western station incident and approved several resolutions, including cooperation with Liberal allies and calls to improve regional infrastructure and welfare programs. New officers and council members were elected, with Mr J Gargan as president and Mr J Thom among officers.
