Population growth slows for first time in years

Statistics Canada reports Canada’s population growth slowed in the latest quarter marking the first slowdown since the COVID era. Non permanent residents still grow but at a slower pace as government steps curb temporary migrants including students and workers. Alberta led growth at 1.0 percent, Northwest Territories at 0.1 percent.

Drivers warned on Thunder Bay highways over emergency room rules

Provincial police remind motorists and truckers to yield to emergency vehicles on routes around Thunder Bay including highways 61 and 11 17. In patrols near the city over the past week, officers and inspectors issued more than 25 tickets for violations of Highway Traffic Act Sec. 159. The rule requires moving over or slowing to provide room for emergency vehicles. fines can reach 400 with possible higher caps and up to three demerit points plus a licence suspension up to two years.
