Fatal Collision on Highway 17 Near Upsala
Thunder Bay OPP responded to a two vehicle crash about 11 p.m. Thursday twenty kilometres east of Upsala. A grey four door car left its eastbound lane, struck a westbound transport trailer unit, and the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The transport driver was uninjured. Traffic narrowed to one lane during the investigation and full lanes reopened by 7:20 a.m. Friday. The inquiry continues with next of kin notification pending.

Problems remain in health system in Canada
The United Nations special rapporteur on the right to health, Dainius Puras, says Canada has a commendable overall health system but vulnerable groups face barriers to quality care. He notes Indigenous peoples, the poor, undocumented migrants and others are affected, and urges Canada to fully recognize health care as a human right. He also calls for halting foreign aid to countries with over-medication and coercive mental health systems. His findings were released Friday with a full report due in June.
