United Way of Thunder Bay launched its sixth annual Novemburger campaign at The Outpost Lakehead University. A record 41 restaurants signed on, with two dollars from each burger aiding food security, shelter, mental health, and family services across the region. The drive has raised over 54,000 burgers and nearly 150,000 in funds since 2019, with participation expanding to nine other Canadian communities. The event also features prizes such as Top Novem burger of the Year and Server of the Week contests.
Oliver Paipoonge reports a 30 day trial of a new chlorinated filtration unit to reduce arsenic in Rosslyn's drinking water. The project, costing 374000, is to be installed at the existing treatment facility with provincial approval and before public use. Bottled water has been supplied since March 2023 after a health unit advisory.
