MPP Sol Mamakwa to speak Anishininiimowin at Queen's Park
Sol Mamakwa, the sole First Nation MPP at Queen's Park, will address the Ontario legislature in Anishininiimowin for the first time, with an audience including his family and Indigenous leaders. The event marks a historic step allowing non English French language interpretation and transcription in the chamber amid calls for language revival and reconciliation. Indigenous leaders and about 25 people from Kingfisher Lake First Nation will attend, alongside 75 guests in Toronto.
