The Black Sturgeon River watershed area near Hurkett north of Thunder Bay supplied wood for over a century. Tendered at WWI end, it was awarded to J. J. Looking Back at Black Sturgeon Camp Logging History
Looking Back recounts how Black Sturgeon country camps supported pulpwood harvesting from 1947 to 1965. Camp 1 served as HQ and village with a school while 650 workers harvested 75 000 cords for the mill. Logs moved via river drives to Thunder Bay harbour and Kam River, later reaching the mill as needed.

For self built rural cabin zoning and permits, visit township or county offices before buying land. rural areas are easier with bunkie or seasonal use. Model building with small pieces aids planning. use hobby wood or foam board, then view BaileyLineRoad resources.
