Rotarians Help Bridge Gap Between Two Nations
The story recounts the unofficial Pigeon River bridge built by Thunder Bay and Duluth Rotarians led by William Scott. Financed 5000 dollars with 1500 from each club and 2000 from Cook County, the bridge opened Aug 18 1917 and spurred local growth and cross border activity including smuggling during Prohibition. The Canadian route was named the Scott Highway.
