Canada and India reach deal at G7 summit closing

At the Kananaskis summit Canada and India agreed to restore top diplomats and improve bilateral ties. Ottawa pressed for a unified G7 stance on Ukraine while U S diplomacy lagged, with Canada pledging 4.3 billion in new Ukraine aid including 2 billion for weapons and matériel and a 2.3 billion infrastructure loan tied to frozen Russian assets.

Calgary protest at G7 heads seeks Khalistan message

More than 50 Sikh protesters gathered at Calgary city hall on day two of the G7 summit, waving Khalistan and Canadian flags, with drumming and a Modi figure in prison garb. Police had set zones. by Tuesday the Calgary site emptied while Banff and other zones saw reduced activity. Relations between Canada and India have been strained over Sikh activism and Modi’s government.
