Atlantic toll cuts boost travel as Confederation Bridge fares drop
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced tolls on the Confederation Bridge will fall to 20 dollars from 50.25 and ferry fares across Eastern Canada cut by half. The plan, aimed at boosting interprovincial mobility amid trade tensions, expects about 100 million dollars in annual savings and greater traffic, with Marine Atlantic also reducing rates. Islanders and provincial leaders welcomed the move, while BC's premier urged equivalent ferry support from Ottawa.
