True Colours Summer Camp Supports 2SLGBTQIA Youth
Lakehead Public Schools runs the True Colours Summer Camp in Thunder Bay for ages 10 to 14 to create a safe welcoming space. Two Charged After Zealand Highway Stop by Police
Dryden provincial police stopped a vehicle on July 8 around 5 p.m. on Highway 17 in Zealand Township. Marko Shkilny and Bryson Ducharme, both 29, were arrested and charged with five counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking along with gun related offences and obstruction. A firearm, drugs including cocaine, meth, oxycodone, hydromorphone and fentanyl, plus cash were seized. Shkilny faces additional assault with a weapon, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation charges. Both remain in custody at Kenora District Jail with court appearances due Tuesday.

Bridge replacement to improve access on Haken Lake Road
Hornepayne Lumber LP starts replacing the Benton River Bridge on Haken Lake Road with a 90 foot modular bridge, to be completed around Aug 8. Access remains via Breckenridge, Martin, Black Beaver, North and South Larkin Roads. The project, funded through Ontario Forest Roads Funding, aims to improve long term forest access for trappers, campers, ATVers, hunters, fishers and the forest industry.
