Officers cleared after fatal Kenora knife incident
The Special Investigations Unit found no grounds to charge two Ontario Provincial Police officers after the June 25 2024 fatal shooting of 57 year old Bruce Frogg of Wawakapewia First Nation in Kenora. Frogg armed with two knives approached officers and firefighters at Ankinabe Park as flames spread from a fire set to a wood cart and building. The SIU concluded the officer used three shots in defence and no negligent conduct occurred. The Fukish country Nishnawbe Aski Nation leader Alvin Fiddler criticized the report and called for further accountability, saying it raises more questions than answers.
