Abortion groups warn of shutdown as funds dry up
Health Canada did not renew funding for Abortion Care Canada and related groups, threatening program cuts just as demand rises. The fund, started in 2021 with 45 million and renewed at 36 million in 2023, supported travel and care for thousands, including newcomers and marginalized clients. Organizations say core services will shrink, with four to six months of piecemeal funding left amid political uncertainty and a pending election.

Public reaction to 2024 Liberal budget in focus groups
Environics Research led 10 online focus groups from April 16 to 22 with 66 Canadians. The report, delivered to Ottawa in May last year and published recently, found the budget scattered and unfocused with mixed reactions. It noted young people saw few direct benefits and pre budget leaks failed to build buzz. The study cost 129,893 dollars and tracked public opinion on health care and other measures.
