Loch Lomond Ski Area near Loch Lomond grows runs this season
Nor'Wester Mountain escarpment hosts a world class ski area where Jason Gerry has opened nine of eighteen runs as 20 cm natural snow falls. The Giant run should open this weekend while more snow could add five more runs. Loch Lomond, founded around 1967, now has 4,000 members and three chair lifts, hosting provincial and national events. Four arrested after north end standoff in Thunder Bay
Four people were arrested after a five hour standoff in Thunder Bay's north end. A female assault victim located elsewhere reported a possible gun. An imitation firearm was found. Marquis Niemi, 28, faces multiple assault and firearm charges. Bryson Matinet, 25, Autumn Snoway, 20, and Mariah Achneepineskum, 24, charged with assault.

88-year-old man charged after impaired driving and firearm stop
Thunder Bay police stopped a locked running vehicle stuck in a snowbank at Egan and Leys streets. The 88-year-old driver allegedly pointed a replica firearm at an officer and tried to flee. He faces impaired driving, assaulting an officer, uttering threats, trafficking charges, and firearm offences and remains in custody after bail court.

Weekend collision stalls Highway 102 traffic west of Thunder Bay
Two people were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries after a transport truck collided with a passenger vehicle Saturday afternoon in Kaministiquia Township near Intola Road and Townline Road. The Highway 102 section was closed about seven hours as police investigated. cause not released.
