Jacqueline Simoneau of Montreal captured Canada's first gold of the meet in Doha in the women's solo free, scoring 264.8207 points to top Vasiliki Alexandri and Evangelia Plataniot as Belarusian Khandoshka took bronze. The win follows her silver in solo technical and marks a broader push to grow artistic swimming. Canada also saw divers McKay and Miller place well in synchronization and Emma Finlin earn an Olympic berth in the women's 10km marathon, while Canada’s water polo team beat Britain 20 5 to move to 2 0.
