A Thunder Bay man faces second degree murder charges after the death of 41 year old Deborah Anishinabie of Sandy Lake First Nation, whose body was found on Finlayson Street December 14 2024. Investigators say the death was a homicide and the suspect Levi Michael Lawson appeared in court and was remanded.
Shane Kruchak, a 50 year old Thunder Bay man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the 2021 death of Brian Wyer, died Jan. 23 2025 in custody at Stoney Mountain Institution near Winnipeg. He was sentenced December 4 2024 to two years six months and 18 days. The death comes as corrections officials review the circumstances with the coroner notified.
