The Township of Emo will pursue a judicial review of a Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario ruling that found the township and its mayor discriminated against Borderland Pride by refusing to proclaim Pride Month in 2020. The tribunal ordered $10,000 to Borderland Pride and $5,000 for Mayor Harold McQuaker, with further appeals to Divisional Court.

A multimillion dollar lawsuit filed by about 487 health care workers across Ontario including Thunder Bay entrants was dismissed as frivolous and outside court jurisdiction. The judge struck the claim against the province ministers and 54 organizations, ruling many plaintiffs were unionized under collective agreements and the action breached proper pleading standards.
