Environment Canada forecasts warmer beyond normal winter in many regions

Officials say La Nina patterns may give Canada a typical winter feel with above normal temperatures in Northern Ontario Quebec Nunavut and Newfoundland and Labrador while December could bring more precipitation and less snow in Quebec and the Maritimes Western provinces Northwest Territories and Yukon may see wetter conditions EarlyHudson Bay sea ice may form very late in the season and the Prairies and B C could tilt to above normal temperatures by late February with wetter starts in December across multiple regions.

Festive CPEC Holiday Train Delivers Food Bank Cheques

Nipigon welcomed the CPEC Holiday Train with a large crowd and illuminated tracks. Nipigon Mayor Suzanne Kukko, Baptist Church food bank volunteer Jeremy Hetz, and Nipigon food bank rep Marilyn Kerbrat accepted $2,500 cheques for each food bank. Firefighter Colton McLeod stood nearby. The train has raised over $23 million and 5.4 million pounds of food over 25 years.

Alarming Trend in Impaired Driving Alarms Thunder Bay

Thunder Bay police report an alarming rise in impaired driving as the Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere program starts. Constable Tom Armstrong notes 164 charges so far with 83 involving drugs, and drivers on weekdays as well as weekends.
