Nuclear exploration event draws community support in Ignace
More than 500 people attended the Northwest Nuclear Exploration Event at Ignace Recreation Centre. Mayor Baigie highlighted youth presenters Darla Delescaille and Andi Davenport. Exhibitors included the CNSC Environment North We the Nuclear Free North and NWMO. The NWMO shortlist includes Revell Lake near Ignace and a site near Lake Huron. A township willingness process runs April 26 30 with an online and in person vote. A report is due in June with a final decision by July. The project could lead to an underground repository completed around 2034.
