Ecoation wins Deep Space Food Challenge for CanGrow system
Ecoation Innovative Solutions of North Vancouver wins the Deep Space Food Challenge with the CanGrow Modular Food Production System. The prize includes 380000 in grant funding as Canadian Space Agency and NASA praise the system for growing strawberries and other foods for long missions and Earth-based food security. Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield announced the victory as judge co chair. The unit uses five chambers with LED growth lights and a mushroom forming chamber and can be remotely managed with AI from Earth.
