The discussion touched on distress in agriculture, governance, and calls for reform.

Local Courts amendment debate and UK trade figures

On Tuesday night Mr. Rigby Wason moved to refer the leave to bring in a bill for Local Courts to a Select Committee to examine cheaper, less burdensome justice and bar independence. The Treasury printed a complete return on UK trade and customs for year ending Jan 5, 1833, showing drops in customs revenue, grain and sugar duties, high branded spirits duties, and reduced sugar drawbacks, while exports and shipping figures rose modestly.
